To my opinion, Social Media is an invention which grows too vast. Unlike the industrial revolution where inventions took the time for it's implementation, Social Media is implemented just before it works well, just before the rules are set and determined. There is no time to think carefully, because when you do not do it NOW, tomorrow you're much too late. Such character makes that the each users of defined the use of social media their own.
Each user use social media to their own need. When we move this behave to a road traffic situation, OMG!!! this is even worst than the roundabout at Arch the Triomph in Paris or the whole city of Jakarta....
Rules distinguishes human from animal, rules forms civilization. The question is where is civilization in this social media era?
